Start and stop, wherever you are

A headache does not wait for you to find the right screen. Cefalea makes its two essential actions—Start Headache Tracking and Stop Headache Tracking—available across iOS while keeping the tracking record on your device.

Home Screen and Lock Screen

Add the Cefalea tracking widget from the iOS widget gallery. It shows whether a session is active, displays elapsed time, and offers a direct Start or Stop button.

The Live Activity also keeps the current timer visible on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, with a Stop action when tracking is active.

Control Center and Action button

Add Headache Tracking from the Control Center controls gallery. The same control can be assigned to the Action button on supported iPhone models. It reflects the current tracking state and works without opening Cefalea.

These controls are configured in iOS—not inside Cefalea’s Settings screen.

Siri and Apple Intelligence

Cefalea publishes native App Intents to Siri, Shortcuts, Spotlight, and Apple Intelligence. Natural-language matching may understand close variations, but these are good phrases to begin with:

Siri can run these actions while Cefalea is not on screen. A newly started session uses the default “present” intensity; you can refine intensity, symptoms, triggers, and medication later in the app.

Shortcuts and automations

Search for Cefalea in the Shortcuts action library to find:

You can place either action in a personal shortcut or automation, combine it with actions from other apps, or assign it to supported system surfaces. Cefalea does not add a redundant Shortcuts section to its own Settings screen.

App icon quick actions

Touch and hold the Cefalea app icon to choose Start Tracking or Stop Tracking. These actions use the same tracking state as the app, widgets, Siri, and the Live Activity.

Calling Cefalea from another app

Apps that support opening URLs can invoke these user-visible deep links:

cefalea://tracking/start
cefalea://tracking/stop

Opening either link brings Cefalea forward, making the action visible to the person using the device. For background composition, prefer the native Cefalea actions in Shortcuts.

These links do not accept health details, medication names, notes, or personal identifiers. They only start or stop the local timer. Cefalea does not provide a remote tracking API and does not send the resulting health record to the calling app.

Data consistency

Every surface uses the same private, App Group-backed session state. If a session is stopped while Cefalea is not open, its start time, end time, and intensity are queued locally and imported into the diary the next time the app runs. You can then add what helped, medication, care, symptoms, and other context.
